Z.ai (GLM) Is Now Live on BrahmAI
Z.ai is live on BrahmAI as our 13th provider — bringing the GLM family onto the platform alongside Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Meta, NVIDIA, Mistral, Alibaba, Moonshot, Cohere and our own Nandini. Here's what each model is for.
Who is Z.ai
Z.ai (formerly Zhipu AI) is a Chinese AI lab behind the GLM family — General Language Models built with a strong focus on coding and long-horizon agent tasks. GLM has built a reputation as one of the more capable commercially-available model families for software engineering work, competing directly with the coding-focused models from the larger labs.

All six are reasoning models: they think through a problem before answering rather than responding in one pass — useful for exactly the kind of coding and planning work GLM is built around.
Five of them carry a Thinking toggle — leave it on for deeper reasoning on hard problems, or switch it off for quick answers at lower cost. On a simple question, turning thinking off cuts the tokens spent by roughly five times.
GLM-5.3 works differently. It always reasons and cannot be switched off, so instead of a toggle it gives you a depth setting: Low, High or Max. Low keeps it brief and cheap; Max lets it think at length on genuinely hard problems.
Which plans include GLM
GLM is available on the Expert and Pro plans. All six models are included on both — there is no partial access.
Reading images
Vision is per model, not per brand. GLM-5V-Turbo is the one that reads images; the other four are text models. As with every model on BrahmAI, the attach button only offers what your selected model can actually take, so you never have to remember which is which.
Documents work across all five — PDFs and text files are handled through BrahmAI's existing attachment pipeline.
Where you can use it
GLM works everywhere, not just in chat:
- Chat — full access through the model picker
- The Council — seat a GLM model against up to three others and let the judge compare them
- AI Search Engine — pick GLM to write your search summaries
Why this matters
GLM fills a specific gap: a model family built around coding and long-running agent work, at a different price and performance point than the general-purpose flagships. If your daily work is writing and maintaining software, having a coding specialist alongside Claude, GPT and Gemini is a genuine choice rather than another name in the picker.
One more on the way: GLM-5.3
Z.ai has announced GLM-5.3, a significant upgrade over 5.2 with major gains on coding and agent benchmarks. It isn't available through the API yet. When it is, expect it to join — or replace — GLM-5.2 as the flagship in BrahmAI's GLM lineup.
